Enjoy the Good Earth
July 24, 2012
Hi

Enjoy the Good Earth

It’s likely that you find yourself busy in the midst of our summer season, and the last thing to cross your mind is how to enjoy the good earth around you. But with this wonderful weather and nature presenting her beautiful floral displays, we encourage you to enjoy the moment. I don’t want to take up too much of your time with a lengthy newsletter, so I will be brief and offer three quick summer tips:

Enjoy Nature’s Bounty.

Don’t miss out on the fresh fruits and vegetables available during this season. You may not be interested in canning these delectable treats, but you can certainly take advantage of the summer produce that you will yearning for in the cold winter months. Here is a quick and easy recipe for a tasty and nutritious start to the day!

Summer Berry Breakfast Parfait

Ingredients for one parfait
3/4 cup sliced strawberries
3/4 cup blueberries
1 (6 ounce) container vanilla yogurt
1 tablespoon wheat germ
1/2 banana, sliced
1/3 cup granola

Directions
Layer 1/4 cup strawberries, 1/4 cup blueberries, 1/3 container yogurt, 1/3 tablespoon wheat germ, 1/3 of the sliced banana, and about 2 tablespoons of granola in a large bowl. Continue to build the parfait, repeating the layers until all of the ingredients are used completely.

Rejuvenate

This can be a wonderful time to relax and enjoy the world around you. But you have to make time to get outside and notice the summer beauty that is unfolding at this time of year. Find a hidden spot. Quiet and serene, nature provides us with a tranquil setting in which we can get in touch with our thoughts and restore your inner calm.

Get Moving

Although, we want you to enjoy the good earth around you and rest in nature’s beauty, we still remind you to enjoy some healthy exercise. Beretta, my 2 year-old Great Dane, and I still enjoy our obedience training classes each week to maintain our focus on Therapy Dog work with the hospitals. We also make time to enjoy exploring the trails in the woods, but Beretta has put his foot down about going into any pond. He is not interested in swimming.

If you have the time-
